Banksy's Pilning
and The parish council have an
area that they would like some graffiti sprayed on. Please can you contact Nicole Bendall
on 01454631003 or Carol Woodhouse on 01454 632813 if you are interested in creating
a Banksy masterpiece. (No swear
words or rude images permitted). On a recent train journey
from Kim Hazelvine, Sports
Development Manager at South Gloucestershire Council discussed sports
activities for Pilning and As you are aware from the
articles submitted to the In View there is a lot of interest from agencies
such as South Gloucestershire Council, Children’s Society which the
parish council are very much supporting.
Please get your kids involved, it you don’t use it, you will
lose it!! A group has now been set up
for fund raising from both members of the parish council and public; however
we are in desperate need of some youngsters i.e. 12-19 years old. If you are interested please contact
Nicole. There is funding out
there for young children to obtain for the play equipment. Please support us in this. The councillors held a
meeting on 19th April to decide on the type of play equipment and its
location within Pilning playing field.
It was agreed to have all the equipment for ages 2 - 6, 6 - 12 and 12
- 19, a multi court (MUGA) and a dirt track for cycles. The fund raising group will install
the work in phases i.e. MUGA in the first instance then work through the
various equipment for the age groups and dirt track. Who are your parish
councillors? Carol Woodhouse (SB)
- Chair, Ivor Humphries (P) -
Vice Chair, Jeff Rawlinson - Clerk with Doug Nethercott (SB), John Black (SB),
Nick Webb (SB), Nora Chappell (P), Steven Cooper (P), Ian Humphries (SB), and
myself, Nicole Bendall (P) - Councillors. Up until April, Alan Webber was a
councillor for Pilning, but has now resigned as he's off to pastures
new. We wish him luck. Again a member of the
parish council and member of the public carried out a litter pick in Pilning playing
field filling 6 bin bags of rubbish.
Please can all members of the public use the bins provided or take
your rubbish home with you. Nicole Bendall, on behalf of Pilning and As over 89% of those who
responded to the Parish Plan Questionnaire were in favour of a Farmers'
Market the Steering Group took steps to organise this and the first market
will be held at the King's Arms Redwick on Wednesday 11th June between The AGM of the Steering
Group will be held at the King's Arms on 25th July at News from the Parish Plan Committee After a years service as Chair, Carol Woodhouse stepped down. Ivor
Humphries was proposed and supported by all present to take up the position
of Chairman. Carol was nominated
and appointed as Vice Chair. On that note an error was made in the last In View regarding members
of the parish council. Mr Dave
Humphries is on the parish council for A funding application was applied for from Old Sodbury Power Station,
unfortunately we were not successful in obtaining the £5,000 grant towards
the play equipment. However this
will not deter further funding being sought. The parish council will continue to
apply for other grants and sources of funding. Despite local rumours, the field near the junction of Gipsies Plat and
Enquires have been made regarding a plastics recycling bin in
Pilning. Don’t forget there
is a bin in
