ALMONDSBURY PARISH COUNCIL

At the last Parish Council meeting it was decided to close The Institute to any further bookings.  The Institute requires considerable monies spent on it in order to bring it up to Health and Safety standards.  Unfortunately there has not been enough public interest in hiring the building to warrant the expenditure.  Therefore the building will be made safe and water tight while the Council considers its future.

 ZOO
The controversial roundabout at the top of Blackhorse Hill, to facilitate the development of Hollywood Tower Estate, has been agreed by South Glos. Council.  The Parish Council shares the concerns of local residents about the impact this will have particularly on traffic at Junction 17 and through the surrounding villages.  This will be discussed further at the May meeting of the Council.

WASTE
Bristol City
Council are to submit a planning application for a waste/compost facility on land at Hallen.  The Council are very concerned about this and representatives for the applicant are to attend the May meeting of the Parish Council to give a brief outline of the proposal and then a fuller explanation at the June meeting in Hallen.

HOUSING
South Glos. Council have issued a document for consultation called the Core Strategy, which details areas of proposed housing until 2026.  The document can be accessed on line through the SGC website or there are hard copies available at Libraries.

 SAFER AND STRONGER COMMUNITY GROUP
The latest meeting of the SSCG met recently at Severn Beach.  There was good attendance and interesting discussions.  The minutes of this meeting will appear in the next In View.

Cllr Sheila Cook. We are all glad that you are better. Ed
